Jan went to law school after working for a number of years in fruit exports, innovative agricultural technologies and in commodities trading. Through this, he learned a lot about post-harvest technology, sales and finance. Jan has lived and worked for much of his career abroad: in Europe, Chile, Peru, Argentina and the US. Today, working as a lawyer, his considerable industry experience enables Jan to provide creative solutions to the legal and business challenges his clients are facing.
Jan gained an undergraduate degree in International Agricultural Trade in 1993. In 2001, he obtained a law degree from Tilburg University to which he added an LL.M. in tax law in 2006. Jan graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2015 with a master’s degree in International Relations for which he wrote a dissertation on food security. He has been practicing law since 2001 and is a member of the Amsterdam Bar Association, the International Law Association and the European Food Law Association. Jan is fluent in English, Spanish and his native Dutch, and also speaks German.
A father of two, Jan is married and is training for his next marathon.

A lawyer and international consultant based in the city of Petrolina, north-east Brazil, Alberto Rodrigues has spent over 16 years working closely with Brazilian fresh produce exporters. Alberto has worked with fresh and processed fruits (juice industry), and also with Fair Trade products. He is an export consultant for Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and International Trade. Alberto a member of the Brazil Bar Association.
Alberto has a Master in Economics applied in International Relations and Trade of the Federal University of Pernambuco. He graduated from the Law School of the State University of Bahia.
